Volunteers are essential to Tokyo in Tulsa, without them it would be virtually impossible to run the convention!

What You Should Know
A minimum of 15 hours is required over the course of the 4 days it takes to setup, run, and break down Tokyo in Tulsa. In return for those hours of service, volunteers are given a weekend pass along with a Minion shirt, and other benefits. Being a volunteer doesn’t mean you won’t have time to enjoy everything the convention has to offer, but it is a serious investment of your time. We need volunteers who are dedicated to making Tokyo in Tulsa the best it can be.

Long term perks also exist; we usually have a Dead Dog event, as well as quarterly events where volunteers get a discount or free entry.  Not to mention, for those interested in moving up in the world, we usually recruit SS and Concom straight from volunteers.

Approved volunteers will get:

• One free minion t-shirt
• One free full weekend pass
• Free meals while on shift
• Specialty access to Vendor Room and Guest Signings

Approved volunteers are required to:

• Filled out the Volunteer form before it closes on July 5th at 11:59pm ( NO EXCEPTIONS )
• New Volunteers must attend Volunteerpalooza (See below)
• ALL volunteers must attend one of our our training meetings:
  7/19, Thursday night at 8pm   OR   7/20, Friday morning at 8am
• Attending all required meetings – 2 for new volunteers ( 2: Volunteerpalooza & Training ), 1 for returning volunteers

 

NEW THIS YEAR:
Any new volunteers will need to join us at Volunteerpalooza , June 9th at the Hardesty Library 1pm till 4pm in the Maple Room. This event gives you a chance to meet the various department heads present, and put names to faces.  While there, we’ll expect you to talk to departments you’ve shown interest in and make your final decision on who you’ll be volunteering with.  We also hope to finalize your volunteering schedule with Concom and Assistant Directors.

Returning volunteers are not required to attend June 9th; however it is still encouraged to make a stop by to settle your schedule.

New volunteers under the age of 18 will be assessed on a case by case basis; any approved will have additional paperwork for a parent or guardian to fill out.

This form is for Volunteers only; SS, Concom and AD’s will have a different form as usual.
