It’s almost time! Returning to the Tulsa Convention Center and DoubleTree Hotel July 20th-22nd, Oklahoma’s largest 3-day Japanese culture, Anime, Gaming and Local Pop Culture convention is going to be larger than ever. Our 2012 lineup of attractions includes:

–Premieres: Tokyo in Tulsa is honored to host the premiere of the anime series Freezing – a brutal and busty sci-fi series (based on the manga of the same name). Freezing features the lead vocal talents of our guest Caitlin Glass!

Tokyo in Tulsa features over 200 hours of Panels (also known as breakouts or workshops). Topics cover
everything from Japanese culture, J-pop, Introduction to Volcaloid, Anime dubbing, BJD Slumber Party, Manga Publishing, Japanese astronomy, RPG design, and Q&A with guest speakers! –Weekend of Concerts, Music, and Dancing:
Join the weekend long dance party! Friday night, come see Fender Music spotlight artist, and first all-Asian
American dance-rock band (and anime con darlings) – The Slants! Also Friday night, we’ll be showcasing the musical bedazzlement of local indie-pop/hardcore fusion band Lizard Police and Oklahoma Ska-Punk/Rock band Sunny Side Up! On Saturday night, head bang, glow-stick, and dance the night away to a mixture of Japanese and American pop/dance/electronica beats (courtesy of DJ HeavyGrinder, DJ Infam0us, and NerdRaves) at our annual Cosplay Ball and Dancy-Dancy-Fun-Time all night dance party. Concert and dance party admission are included in memberships and weekend/day passes, but one day “concert/dance only” passes can be purchased at the door for $15.
–Massive Vendor Room:
A unique shopping experience provided to you by vendors and artists from across the country, and now it’s larger than ever! Vendor room passes are included in Memberships and Day Passes. Those who are only interested in the Tokyo in Tulsa shopping experience can purchase 1-day “Vendor Room Only” passes at the door for $15.
–Amazing Cosplay Showcase
Come witness or participate (totally optional) alongside the hundreds of people from around the region participating in Cosplay – the the art of dressing up in various Japanese styles or costuming as a favorite character from anime, manga, video gaming, or Japanese pop culture. Most are handmade works of art, and an incredibly unique and jaw-dropping element of anime conventions. On Saturday afternoon, take a glimpse at the best of the best at our annual Cosplay contest!
–Oklahoma’s Largest Gaming Area:
Take some time to enjoy Oklahoma’s premiere gaming experience with the single largest dedicated gaming area in the state – powered by GameStop and OKgamers.com, and fueled by RedBull! With dozens of LCD screens and popular Console Gaming titles for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii, as well as Arcade cabinets, and Pinball machines! In addition to video gaming, enjoy our staggeringly diverse selection of Tabletop Gaming, and Collectible Card Games (CCG). Access to the gaming area is included in weekend and day memberships, but a one day game room pass can also be purchased for $15 per person at registration. Come by for casual free play, or enter one of our tournaments! FPS and fighting game tournaments will take place throughout the weekend. On top of regular tournament pots, we’re tossing in extra cash incentives for the big games including – $500 for Super Street Fighter IV, $500 for Soul Calibur V, $300 for Halo Reach (FFA), $300 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (FFA), as well as $400 for Modern Warfare 3 (2-v-2).
We’ve also got multiple tabletop tournaments including Magic the Gathering, Legend of the 5 Rings, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokemon CCG! We’re throwing in $2,000 for CCG and tabletop tournament prizes including: L5R: Embers of War booster packs, multiple boxes of Embers of War booster packs, three boxes of Magic the Gathering booster packs, multiple Yu-Gi-Oh! booster packs, L5R: Emperor Edition booster packs, a factory set of The Shadow’s Embrace for L5R, four L5R art prints, and much, much more!
In all, we’re pumping an extra $4,000 guaranteed into game room winnings and prizes! All tournaments will require an entry fee, and all cash incentives are on top of regular included tournament payouts.
