I need a job!
« on: May 30, 2011, 07:26:43 PM »
Well...just as the title says. I'm probably going to start job hunting sometime after TnT. Because I'm sure as you all are well aware cosplaying is an expensive hobby x___x Conventions in general are haha.
I used to work at Poblano Grill and I'm pretty much guaranteed a job there if I go back but I'm hoping to MAYBE not work in the food business this time.
So if anyone has any suggestions for a good job for an eighteen year old please feel free to drop a comment below :3

yeah but you have to know exactly how to answer the online personality quiz questions. i applied there a few times and no calls. i have been looking for a job for a year now, just keep putting in apps. and you should have started putting apps in back in march to get a summer job. by now most part time/ seasonal positions for the summer are filled. im 21 and have worked at a gas station so i try to hit sales places. stores, gas stations, the mall, etc. to put apps at because they see i have that kind of experience but even then unless you have a full year at one place they toss your app to the side with how the job market is right now. they hire people that are over qualified or have tons of experiance but are ok with taking min wage because then they dont have to spend time training those people and they get more for the amount they are paying. luckily things are turning around and jobs are becoming more available all over the US. but its still probably going to be 6 more years before its like it was.

If you don't mind exercise or waking up early  i would recommend Fed ex/ UPS . Friend works  in one of those and says the pay is good 10+  and if youre in uni or other schools they have pretty good benefit at the end of semesters.

Hahahaha..ha...aaahhhhhh... I failed Walmart's personality quiz.
And they submitted my application anyway. >:C

Also, sales might not be a good job, unless you are enthusiastic and love talking to people. 2 things I don't really have..

yeah... i work at best buy and they only hire you if you are upbeat and happy and know how to be social due to you working with people no matter what. they also like to see how you respond to stress and that sort of stuff due to you getting to work with some... not so nice customers. and they don't like the overly bossy know it alls. that is a major turn off too because typically that type will piss off customers lol.
